Tiered Supports: Problem-Solving Framework

How does it work?

Effective instruction begins with accurately understanding student need. A structured problem-solving process helps educators move beyond assumptions by using data to identify a student's challenge, understand the conditions contributing to it, develop a targeted plan, and monitor whether that plan is producing the desired results. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with the student?" effective problem solving asks, "What is the student experiencing, why is it happening, and what support will best address the need?"
